ASICS GEL-Nimbus 26 Shoes

“Premium footprint”, “example of the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen (constant improvement)”, “for everyone and every day”. These are just some of the adjectives that the legendary ASICS shoe model has received over the years.

This classic from the ASICS catalogue has a new version with improved fit, grip and ventilation. A more breathable upper and wider toe box make them even more comfortable, while the outsole now features part of the tread pattern of the successful ASICS GRIP compound found in their trail shoes. The midsole still relies on Flyte Foam BLAST PLUS ECO, with a PureGEL insert in the heel to ensure the best landing.

Comfort and stability above all else

Without revolutionising the design, the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 26 once again features Flyte Foam BLAST PLUS ECO in the midsole, which has a high energy absorption capacity. This makes this shoe ideal for daily training sessions at light paces or long runs. Comfort when landing on the heel is ensured by the PureGEL insert, a piece of elastic material with an internal hexagonal structure placed on top of the foam, which offers comfort and control.

Where there have been changes is in the design of the lateral profiles, now with longitudinal ribs designed to improve the transition in the footstrike. It is a more curved shoe, which makes it more dynamic and can compensate for its generous height. The OrthoLite X-55 insole can be easily removed and can be machine washed or replaced with a customised orthopaedic insole.

More breathable knitted fabric

The upper is one of the parts that has undergone a major renovation. The Knit fabric replaces the Jacquard of previous models, being now much more breathable, something very necessary in a shoe designed for long distances. Both the tongue and toe box now feature more micro ventilation holes. Tongue is still thin and very elastic, and now the eyelet pattern has fabric pins in the midfoot for a more precise fit in that part.

The comfort of the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 26 is also enhanced by the inner cushioning, especially in the oversized heel area. The very generous pull tab makes putting these shoes on very easy. In the ankle area, the walls of the shoe are higher, which contributes to the shoe’s fantastic stability and comfort.

Grippy outsole thanks to hybrid design

The sole, in addition to a new design and compound, is thinner in this model. This makes us feel the tread more, but the midsole foam is there to ensure the best comfort. With this thinning we save a little bit of weight in a model that tends to be heavy, and in exchange we have a better feedback in the footstrike.

Now the outsole has a dual design. On the forefoot and on the outer forefoot we find the ASICS GRIP compound, present in the brand’s trail shoes, with its exceptional grip. And in the heel area, the very light AHAR+ compound is used. Both compounds feature a new heel design, now more elongated and prominent.

The ASICS GEL-Nimbus 26 is a highly cushioned running shoe that ensures total comfort for daily training and long runs. It retains the luxurious comfort feel typical of this model, while the thinner and grippier outsole provides a more secure and comfortable ride. The upper has a renewed fabric, being now more breathable and with better lace adjustment thanks to its new fabric eyelets in the central area.
