Finisseur Core kit

Our test today focuses on one of the most interesting items of gear within the extensive range of Finisseur cycling clothing. Specifically, in a kit made up of the Core jersey and the Core 2 bib Shorts. Both belong to the Core family, which, within the traditional sports cut of the brand, offer a slightly more relaxed and less compressive pattern than the parallel families of Finisseur, the Pro or the Pro Race range.

1. Italian design and style

As we have just mentioned, Finisseur stands out for offering clothing that, at first sight, already offer a very refined aesthetic. A look that, inevitably, reminds us of the always avant-garde Italian aesthetics in cycling clothes. With some single-colour designs with a touch of retro and options in gradient and elegant colour combinations. In fact, this is no mere coincidence, as the design of these Finisseur garments has been carried out by one of the main transalpine manufacturers of cycling textiles.

2. Fabrics with a pleasant comfortable touch

When we go from sight to touch, the first time you pick up one of these garments, you get a really nice feeling. The touch of its fabrics is soft and both the jersey and the bib shorts that we have tested, for example, are extremely lightweight. Some of the critical points of contact with the cyclist’s body, such as the sleeve cuffs on the arms, legs or neck, which are French in style, are specially cared for so that they do not cause chafing or excess pressure. This is why there are no seams at these points and in some cases, such as the legs, a wide elastic band is used to distribute the pressure more evenly.

3. Like a glove

The truth is that with a majority composition of Polyester and a proportion of elastane of 14% for the jersey and 20% for the bib shorts, both garments fit perfectly. When you try them on for the first time, you notice how, in both cases, the garment fits your morphology and does not tend to generate the strains that occur when a cycling garment has a careless and non-specific pattern. This is certainly not the case. Comfort is undoubtedly one of its strengths.

At the level of breathability we stop especially at the core jersey, the most essential garment in this respect. It has micro-perforated fabric throughout the area of the back, which is also needed, since this is the area of our body where most sweat is produced and is the most strategic place when it comes to getting rid of heat. The front of the Core Jerset, however, does not have this perforated fabric, perhaps prioritising greater protection against wind and draughts. On the other hand, it makes this area not as ventilated as the rear one.

The Core 2 Bib Shorts exert more than the right amount of tension on their straps, perhaps a little narrower so that they are fixed more firmly on the shoulders and with excellent breathability, thanks also to their ultra-lightweight fabric and perforation on the back panel and throughout the straps.

Finally, the chamois of the Core 2, the new anti-bacterial treatment with variable density (denser in the back and less dense in the front) meets its objective perfectly. It offers good absorption of our weight against the saddle and most importantly, we did not notice at any time that it moved due to internal tension in the garment or our movements when pedalling.

4. Final veredict

We found the Finisseur Core kit an excellent option in terms of its relationship between comfort, quality and price.

It has a more than correct anatomical design and quality levels in its fabrics and very remarkable manufacturing for the price for which it is marketed. It is true that there are higher quality kits on the market, but also with prices between 30 and 40% higher. So, for what they cost, 89 euros for the bib shorts and 62 euros for the jersey, we can’t think of a much better option than this one, having also checked that the comfort and the design they offer can satisfy the needs and preferences of most users.

5. Pros

Excellent comfort, quality and price ratio
Modern and aesthetic designs
Touch and softness of fabrics

6. Cons

A little more support is needed in the fabric of the bib shorts.
