Finisseur Pro Thermal Gravel Bib Tights
With gravel riding on the rise, Finisseur has decided to launch these bib tights that we tested specifically for off-road use. A garment that retains all the thermal properties and fit of the Pro Thermal line but incorporates some special features that better adapt it to the demands of cycling on trails instead of roads or mountain bike trails.
Seemingly conventional
To the eye, but also to the touch, the Pro Thermal Gravel are conventional bib tights. They are oriented to the use in winter, for temperatures according to the manufacturer that oscillate between 0ºC and 10ºC and with a very good capacity of adaptation to the anatomy. In our case the bib tights did not generate tension in any area and allowed us absolute freedom of movement at all times.
The straps are not as sophisticated as in other Finisseur models, although they perfectly fulfil their function of holding the garment in place. They are micro-perforated, with stitching and the back is accompanied by a mesh that is also perforated to promote ventilation. A thing to highlight in any case and as a definite positive feature are the ankle cuffs, with a different fabric to the rest of the bib tights and with a particularly grippy inner surface. This makes for excellent ankle support.
Differential points
There are basically two aspects that differentiate this specific gravel bib tights from the others.
On the one hand the chamois, which in this case is the same one that Finisseur uses in the mountain bike bib tights. It is the MTB Trail Men Hybrid, which is characterised by its multi-directional fit and therefore allows greater comfort and movement in all directions. This is, at first glance, more beneficial for disciplines such as mountain biking or gravel, where we tend to move more. In any case, we found this MTB Trail Men Hybrid to be perfect in terms of comfort and softness. You just have to look at its smooth fabric and its differentiated areas with a central channel to release tension in the perineal area.
The other aspect that makes these bib tights ideal for gravel riding is the addition of two pockets, each on one side of the garment. They are pockets without zipper, with elastic and elongated shape. They allow you to carry some food or some spare parts or tools. In any case, the usual equipment for adventure and touring gravel. It’s an element that we found extremely practical and once you get used to it, it’s hard to go back to bib tights without pockets. However, we recommend that you do not fill these pockets with any metal or sharp objects, such as keys, for example. In the event of a fall these objects could hurt us with the force of the impact against the ground.
Veredict
Conventional bib tights, belonging to the medium-high range Pro Thermal of Finisseur, are adapted to a sensational chamois, to carry more comfort and practical side pockets that allow us to carry things and utensils more at hand, ideal for when we travel or take an adventure in various places. This is how Finisseur created its first gravel bib tights, a garment that we think is very practical, paradoxically, for gravel and for any other cycling discipline, as the pockets are useful for any situation and type of cycling that we practise.
The bib tights are warm, comfortable, well-fitting and practical thanks to the pocket elements mentioned above.
