Finisseur Climber Mountains Jersey
We tested one of the most extreme and lightest jerseys we’ve ever seen. We are talking about the Climber Mountains jersey by Finisseur. A garment designed specifically for use on the hottest days of the year and for those who also seek maximum lightness on the bike.
Ultra-perforated fabric
If anything characterises this jersey is the use of a highly perforated fabric in the front area, both in the pectoral and abdominal region. This area of the garment is the one that as you know, is more hidden and collected in the riding position on the bike. It is also the one that receives the most impact from the air when it is in motion. The product developers at Finisseur have therefore considered using a highly perforated fabric in this area. The Climber jersey is designed for use on particularly hot days to allow air to enter the jersey and thus optimise ventilation and cooling.
The porous fabric is not exclusive to the front section of the jersey, but is also present on the shoulders and back, although the perforations are smaller. In fact, we can say that the Climber jersey has up to three different types of fabric in this regard. The shoulder and back have, as we said, a specific perforation each. On the one hand, to promote ventilation, but on the other hand, to prevent to some extent the action of the sun’s ultraviolet rays on the skin. In fact, in these areas the fabric has a protective effect of UPF+50, one of the highest we’ve found in cycling apparel.
Super slim fit
Another quality of the Climber jersey is its fit. Its polyester and 6% elastane fabric gives it that elastic touch that, along with a rather small size, makes the garment fits really tight to the body. But in addition to the elasticity of the fabric, we must highlight the effectiveness of its laser-cut sleeves that fit like a glove to the arm, or the silicone panels inside the elastic found in the lumbar area that keep the jersey in place, without slipping down when, for example, we load the back pockets with various objects.
Regarding the sizes, when choosing our jersey we should, with this Climber model, choose a size somewhat larger than the one we use with other jerseys from other manufacturers, as its compressive effect and pattern makes it very tight to the body.
Other details
We especially liked the Climber jersey‘s sleeve fit. Longer, but with greater and better adaptation to the width of any arm, thanks to the fact that they do not have a powerful elastic, as with other models, which can generate some excess tension in this area. This jersey, on the other hand, makes the sleeve fit like a glove on the arm and is extremely comfortable. The French cut collar is really practical when wearing this jersey on hot days, ultimately the scenario for which it was designed. Its soft and super perforated fabric, in addition to a very low profile makes that we hardly notice the garment is this area of our body.
Final verdict
The Climber jersey really does what it is designed to do. It is an extremely cool jersey, ideal for use under high temperatures, all thanks to the specific perforation of its fabric, although we recommend to enhance these properties to use its white version, the one that absorbs and retains less temperature (it is also marketed in other scarcer colour options).
The fit is perfect and the jersey is also suitable for racing or high-performance use.
