Test: Finisseur Pro 2 Recycled Bib Shorts
Classic, close-fitting cut bib shorts designed for performance in rides of less than six hours and they have excellent credentials in terms of the environmental sustainability in their manufacturing. And all this without any loss of quality and performance, and suitable for both road and mountain biking.
Performance and elegance
Performance and eleganceThese are bib shorts from Finisseur’s Pro range, and therefore performance-oriented, but with a classic line that perfectly combines performance and elegance. The model we tested of the Finisseur Pro 2 Recycled has a really nice navy blue colour, which is worth seeing live in person, in full sun. The straps have a classic cut, micro-perforated and connected to the back by a high panel, also micro-perforated to promote perspiration. The white finish on the straps is a perfect match for that beautiful navy blue, it’s a pity that they are covered up by the jersey!
The leg elastics are 45 mm wide and are made of micro silicone. Sewn to the leg loops, they offer enough compression to keep them in position in any situation.
The Paris Men chamois pad by Elastic Interface belongs to the Crossover line, designed for both road and mountain biking. Its central channel tapers from back to front, thus offering good protection of the perineal area and it has perforations in the upper front part that improve air permeability and favour the reduction of skin temperature and humidity.
Recycled origins without compromising quality
For industry, the “environmental sustainability” label is not a fad, it is a necessity. The circular economy is not only environmentally friendly, but also reduces economic costs and, above all, waste. These bib shorts are made from recycled MITI fibres with Greensoul technology from both plastics and synthetic fibres. And yet, the resulting recycled fabric has the same characteristics as traditional synthetic fabrics. UV protection, resistance to peeling, elasticity in any direction and hydrophilicity for quick drying are present as if it were a normal synthetic fibre.
In addition to these essential features of any high-end bib shorts, MITI recycled fibres include Power technology that creates high-density, non-transparent fabrics that provide compression that perfectly follows the shape of the muscle with enough elasticity to return to its original shape after use.
Compression where it counts and freshness
On the move, the Finisseur Pro 2 Recycled bib shorts are extremely comfortable and you will only notice slight compression in the quadriceps area, designed to promote muscle expenditure. Like all the garments in the Finisseur Pro range, they have a minimalist design with sober useful elements such as the reflective details on the back and the brand logo on the right leg. We tested the bib shorts on a hot day and we particularly liked the coolness provided by the front perforations of the chamois, something that makes us think that perhaps on cool days and in certain situations (a long descent of a mountain pass), perhaps we could feel cold in that area.
Efficiency is not at odds with elegance
Efficiency is not at odds with eleganceHigher performance bib shorts sometimes resort to very efficient designs but may make sacrifices in aesthetics. This is not the case with the Finisseur Pro 2 Recycled bib shorts, which not only feature a quality chamois and performance-enhancing compressive fabrics, but also have a classic, elegant look that will turn a lot of heads.
And if, in addition to being efficient and elegant, they are made from recycled fibres that give us the same performance as traditional synthetic fibres, we are faced with a product that has practically everything. Perhaps they are not bib shorts for ultra-distance cycling because of their chamois, designed for rides of less than six hours, but for that we have other models in the same range, such as the Finisseur Pro Race.
They offer very high quality for a very reasonable price, and for under €100, and we think they’re perfect for enjoying cycling, both on the road and in the mountains, thanks to the Crossover chamois, and to do so in style.
Pros
Sustainable technology without loss of performance.
Elegant and classic, timeless design.
Excellent value for money in the Pro range.
Cons
The ventilation of the front perforated chamois may be excessive on cold days.
