Test: Finisseur Core Thermal Icon jersey
When the weather starts to cool down, it’s time to ditch the sleeves and gilets to complement the short sleeve jersey and go straight to the long sleeve jerseys. This Finisseur Core Thermal Icon jersey is suitable for use in temperatures between 10°C and 16°C and is ideal for those months when the thermometer starts to drop.
New pattern for the torso and sleeves
Made from Italian technical Carvico fabric with 250g fleece lining, this jersey is an ideal garment to wear from autumn to early spring. The fabric of the Finisseur Core Thermal Icon jersey is consistent without being too thick, which allows for a fit that, in our case, was quite frankly perfect (something that doesn’t always happen!). It is a jersey that, combined with different options of vests, can have the performance of a jacket.
This year’s model has a new pattern that makes it fit better in the mid-torso area. Although it is a Core range garment, the fit seemed almost Pro range, we felt it was tight but comfortable, perhaps because of the new cut of the sleeves, which are a whole piece from the shoulders and whose fabric is now the same as the rest of the jersey. The fabric used is also dyed instead of painted, so that there is now a greater consistency between colours compared to other Finisseur garments.
Quality details
In addition to the features of its fabric and new patterning, the Finisseur Core Thermal Icon jersey features small details such as a hypoallergenic insert in the collar that protects the skin from sweat and an inner silicone band in the waistband that really improves the stability of the garment during pedalling.
There are also aesthetic details to highlight, such as the inserts on the back of the collar and on the inside of the sleeve ends, in yellow in this case, which combine very well with the khaki colour of this test jersey, resulting in a perfectly autumnal ensemble. And if you’re wondering what those three logos on the upper back mean, just one sentence will tell you: “Never Look Back”, the slogan of the Finisseur brand!
Other practical details include a reflective strip at the bottom of the centre back pocket, CamLock technology zip, and flared back pockets.
Versatility and comfort
We had the opportunity to test this jersey during a three-day trip, during which we experienced remarkable temperature ranges, from 4° C to 25° C in a single day. Combining this garment with long and short sleeve vests, and also with a windbreaker waistcoat, we have been able to see its great versatility and, above all, the great comfort and fit it provides.
On days that have stretched from 4 to 8 hours on the road, with pockets packed to the brim and changing conditions, this jersey has performed remarkably well and we think it’s going to be a must-have in our wardrobe this autumn and winter.
