Test: Corsa N.EXT and Corsa PRO: Two different purposes, the same high-performance you expect from a Corsa
Vittoria best seller road tyre Corsa has been recently updated with new versions to satisfy different riding needs.
Cyclists are not the same. Some are more into riding for leisure and training; some are more into competitions and racing. Some are more into good quality-price ratio bicycles and equipment; some others ride high-end bicycles and do not compromise for having the same set-up and accessories used by World Tour riders.
Likewise, coming to bicycle tyres performance, some road cyclists are more oriented towards certain performance characteristics such as resistance and durability; some others are more into low rolling resistance, lightweight and comfort.
Starting from these considerations, in the last twelve months Vittoria launched two Corsa versions designed to satisfy specific riding needs: Corsa N.EXT and Corsa PRO. Let’s dive into the characteristics of each, and their purpose of use.
Racing-inspired performance with the everyday durability of nylon construction
Corsa N.EXT focuses on the requirements of enthusiast cyclists who clock up the miles on long and demanding weekly rides. These riders expect every component of their bicycle to match their effort, especially the tyres. They want speed (who doesn’t!) but they don’t want to compromise on durability and puncture resistance.
Vittoria design engineers have combined their peerless knowledge of racing performance with the durability of a long-lasting nylon casing that uses a unique Silica and Graphene compound for improved rolling efficiency, grip and longer wear-life.
Corsa N.EXT is the first and only Corsa version using a nylon casing, and this is a true technical revolution. Nylon fibres are strong and are effective in enhancing the robustness and puncture resistance of the casing and, therefore, of the tyre itself. To increase puncture protection, the central section of the casing features 3 layers of 100 TPI nylon as well as an additional puncture protection belt.
The tyre resistance is further increased at the bead level with a chafer – an extra protective layer of nylon wrapping the bead. The high-tech bead has been designed to ease the tyre mounting and inflation for both tube-type and tubeless constructions.
Corsa N.EXT is the recommended tyre choice for cyclists looking for a solid, durable but also fast road tyre for a good quality-price ratio.
The ultimate evolution in cotton tyre performance & the choice of World Tour riders
At the highest levels of road cycling racing, riders expect every component of their bicycle to enhance speed and lightweight, as every Watts gained can make a difference. Tyres play a crucial role in this: they are the only point of contact between the bicycle and the ground. They are the part of the cyclist/bicycle system that really transfers pedalling energy into movement.
When it comes to top performance applications, Corsa PRO delivers superior qualities thanks to the use of a cotton casing. It’s more supple, more flexible, and lighter. Cotton flexibility allows the casing to perfectly adhere to every ripple of the tarmac, resulting in continuous contact between the tyre and the ground, effective grip and never-ending traction. As a result, the tyres deliver tremendously low rolling resistance and speed.
Corsa PRO 320 TPI cotton casing – the finest available in the market – provides that suppleness, comfort and lightweight pro-riders are used to. Corsa PRO Graphene + Silica compound specifically improves road tyre performance in terms of speed, grip and durability.
Corsa PRO is the recommended tyre choice for cyclists aspiring to PRO riders’ performance level, looking for speed, lightweight and comfort above all.
